Description

Founded in 1931 by the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, the Lincoln Museum contains the world's largest private collection of items relating to the life of Abraham Lincoln. The collection includes signed copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th amendment, 19th century prints, photographs, engravings and newspapers, scores of period artifacts and Lincoln family belongings.

The museum presents a permanent exhibit on Lincoln and the American Experiment as well as temporary exhibits, lectures and special events. The museum is visited by tens of thousands of travelers each year and is an active research facility for the 19th century.
